Chill Filtration
Chill filtration (koldfiltrering) is a filtration method used on whisky at low temperatures to remove fatty acids and other fat-soluble compounds that can cause cloudiness when chilled or when in contact with water and ice. The method is primarily used to improve clarity and stability in the final product, particularly in mass-produced whiskies.

- Ensure clarity at different temperatures and when pouring with water or ice

Proces
- Whisky is cooled to around −4 to 0 °C (some distilleries operate at 0–5 °C, depending on the desired balance)
- The liquid passes through a filtration medium (typically cartridge- or plate filtration) that captures fats, fatty acid esters, and other particles
- The filtered liquid is tested for clarity and stability before bottling
