NAS (No Age Statement)

Definition

NAS stands for No Age Statement and denotes whisky without an age specified on the label. The youngest component does not need to be specified, and production can therefore contain whiskies of varying ages. This does not necessarily mean the whisky is young; at least three years of maturation still applies for Scottish whisky and for whisky under many other rules, but the age is not disclosed on the bottle.

According to the current rules, a whisky of Scottish origin must have at least three years of maturation to be called whisky, regardless of whether it states an age or not.
