Oloroso Sherry Cask
An oloroso sherry cask refers to a sherry cask of the oloroso type, used for aging or finishing whisky, and is known for its dry, oxidative style as well as its darker color.
Aroma: - Notes of nuts (walnut, hazelnut), raisins and leather; spices such as cinnamon and cloves; hints of tobacco and oak.
Smag: - Dry, full-bodied and complex with notes of dried fruits, roasted nuts, cocoa and leather; a light sweetness from the cask and noticeable spice in the finish.
Farve: - Gives a darker color — from amber-gold to mahogany.
Finish: - Long, warm and spicy with lingering nutty and fruity notes.
Anvendelse: - Often used for finishing bold malt whiskies or as part of maturation to impart dark fruits, leather and spice notes.
