Information card
An information card is a small card or sheet that accompanies a whisky and is often found in connection with gift boxes. The card provides a quick and standardized overview of bottle identity and relevant data without requiring deeper reference works. It is used by retailers, collectors and enthusiasts as a reference when purchasing, evaluating style and origin, and organizing collections.
Core information (typical fields) - Distillery and brand: producer and brand name. - Product name and series: name, possibly vintage or limited edition. - Type: single malt, blended, grain or blended malt. - Country of origin and region: country and geographic region (e.g., Speyside, Highlands, Islay). - Age: number of years, if indicated. - Alcohol by volume (ABV): alcohol percentage in the bottle. - Bottle size: volume in cl (typically 70 cl or 75 cl). - Cask finish and maturation: cask material and/or finish (e.g., ex-bourbon, sherry, port) as well as maturation length, if known. - Production year and/or batch number: traceability and reference to a specific production. - Any special notes: notes on color, aroma and flavor, if the card contains them.
Format and use The information card is presented in a compact format and provides a quick overview. The data can be in text or graphic form and are often found in the gift box's laminated card or as an electronic version in catalogs or apps.
