The back label is the label on the back of the whisky bottle and provides supplementary information about the product, its origin and production. It supports traceability and the consumer's ability to assess the quality and characteristics of the whisky.
Typical contents - Distillery and brand, as well as whisky type (e.g., single malt, blended) and name - Age statement and/or vintage, if these details are available - Alcohol by volume (ABV) and bottle volume (e.g., 70 cl) - Origin: country and regional provenance - Maturation and finishing information: which cask has been used (ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, new oak), and the duration of maturation - Batch or lot number and any serial number for traceability - Producer, distributor and, if applicable, bottler - Any special characteristics: natural color, non-chill-filtered, finish or special production processes - Additional information for traceability and authenticity: barcode and/or QR code - Other information for the consumer: storage advice, recommended serving temperature and any warnings

Use, storage and recommendations - Storage: in a dark place, stable temperature and away from direct sunlight - Serving and glass choice: recommended glass and temperature for the best experience - Significance of the label for the consumer: understanding of the product's identity and characteristics
Legal requirements and standards - Compliance with applicable labeling requirements in the EU and at the national level: clear indication of identity (distillery and brand), alcohol strength, volume and origin - Clear and transparent disclosure of essential information without misleading wording
Notes on authenticity and details - The back label may also contain information about bottling date, finishing processes and any special series, which helps document the product's history and distinctive characteristics.
