Club tasting

Club tasting is an organized whisky tasting arranged by a whisky club for members and invited guests. The purpose is to promote knowledge about and discussion of whisky through systematic tasting of selected releases under the guidance of a facilitator.

Tema og udvalg: The event often chooses a theme, for example a distillery, a region, a vintage, or characteristics such as cask maturation. The number of samples typically ranges from 4 to 8; each sample is presented with basic information and background, including the distillery, origin, alcohol strength, and any distinctive features.

Gennemførelse: The tasting follows a predetermined sequence. The samples are served in numbered glasses and presented with a brief introduction to each item. Participants taste attentively and may use water to cleanse the palate and adjust impressions. Note-taking: Participants record sensory impressions and comments, which are often shared in an open discussion or in smaller groups. If desired, an anonymous evaluation of each release is conducted.

Deltagelse og etikette: The main rules are to taste with respect, to discuss constructively, and to drink responsibly. The event often provides time for socializing after the tasting and may include the opportunity to purchase or pre-order bottles from selected distilleries or retailers.

Noter og reference: Many clubs provide short tasting notes or references, summarizing sensory impressions and characteristics of each release.
