History

Old Fourth Distillery was Atlanta's first legal distillery since 1906 and was located in the historic Old 4th Ward. From 2014 to 2022 they produced spirits in a state-of-the-art facility, where cutting-edge technology was integrated with timeless techniques. All drops come from regional, sustainable sources. The original Old Fourth Distillery closed in December 2022, but the current ownership group found a new home in Norcross, Georgia. The new facility houses distillation, aging, blending, bottling and back-office, and also offers a private tasting room where consumers can enjoy the flavors of Shortbarrel and Old Fourth spirits. We continue to produce excellent spirits.

Production

Old Fourth Distillery combines distillation, aging and blending in the new facility. They have a Bottled in Bond Bourbon, aged for at least four years and bottled at 100 proof, produced in small batches of just over 10 barrels. The vodka is an 80 proof neutral spirit distilled from minimally processed, non-GMO, organic sugar syrup and charcoal-filtered to remove impurities, yielding a smooth, round, and clean flavor with notes of caramelized sugar. The gin is made with juniper, organic Italian wheat and fresh botanicals and citrus. Rye is a 100 proof spirit consisting of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, aged 2-4 years under Georgia's summer heat. Lawn Dart is a signature formula that balances lemon zest and ginger with a light sweetness, and the ingredients are blended with vodka and water for a gluten-free and clean experience. There is also a seasonal Double Cask, providing extra depth and complexity. Production remains gluten-free and free from added color or additives.

Old Fourth produces: Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Atlanta's first Bottled in Bond Bourbon), Vodka, Gin and Rye, as well as Lawn Dart. Double Cask is mentioned as a seasonal release, and Rye is described as a cocktail-friendly variant.

The new facility in Norcross also houses a private tasting room, where consumers can experience the flavors of all Shortbarrel and Old Fourth spirits.
