History

Sasanokawa Shuzo was founded in 1765 in Koriyama in Fukushima Prefecture. It was the first distillery in Tohoku to begin producing whisky in 1946. After a pause, the nearby Asaka Distillery was reopened in 2015 to establish the Yamazakura brand as a premium whisky.
