History

Sakhrani Distillery is an Okinawa-based whisky house that highlights women at all levels of management and production. According to the materials, the company has five generations of experience deeply rooted in distillation, and the concept emphasizes that two women from two worlds set course to bring Okinawa to the world. Their story describes a journey from Rome to Yanbaru, where tradition meets innovation and a willingness to honor the island's culture and landscape. The company is described as women-led with five generations of craftsmanship behind it. Each bottle is produced by women, and there is emphasis on Yanbaru's unknown water source and the use of indigenous woods such as Mizunara, Sakura, and Kuri. A portion of each sale supports the elderly population of Ogimi town to preserve the island's traditions.

Production and Manufacturing

The whiskey rests in casks crafted from Mizunara, Sakura, and Kuri woods, carefully selected and responsibly sourced. The water comes directly from a spring at a World Heritage Site, and the production is described as environmentally friendly with a light footprint and long-term sustainability. The aim is to preserve the island's nature and traditions throughout the process, from raw materials to packaging.

Products / Whisky Series

Sakhrani produces three editions: Mizunara Edition, Kuri Edition, and Sakura Edition, all 700 mL and 47% ABV. The editions are marketed as a trilogy of timeless flavor and are presented as part of a single portfolio. Each edition highlights the corresponding wood's character: Mizunara lends sandalwood notes and delicate spices as well as a light coconut note; Kuri offers roasted chestnuts and smoky undertones with a nutty profile; Sakura adds floral sweetness with cherry blossom and vanilla, which work with the malt's depth. The desire to present a unique Japanese whisky from Okinawa is emphasized, and the editions are described as non-chill-filtered and without added color.

Philosophy and Corporate Social Responsibility

Sakhrani carries the slogan Beyond the Bottle – Distilled with Purpose. Crafted with Conscience. The company places emphasis on women in production and leadership and describes their whisky as more than what is poured into the glass. Their practices include respect for Okinawa, the use of heritage resources from the island’s nature, and ancestral activities as a way to protect the environment and support traditions. A portion of sales goes to the elderly community of Ogimi to preserve the island's traditions and the people who make the island extraordinary. Because of this, Sakhrani is regarded as a spirit with a purpose beyond flavor.
