History
The story begins in the remote Livet Valley, where George Smith learned to distill illegally among the hills and springs. In August 1822, the notorious Glenlivet whisky gained royal attention when George IV requested a dram during his visit to Scotland. Two years later, after a change in the law, Smith traveled to Elgin to secure his license and became the first legal distiller in the parish of Glenlivet.
