About the Distillery

Rock Town Distillery is located in Little Rock and produces both Rock Town Vodka and a range of bourbons with local roots. The distillery has made local ingredients part of its craft and blends production with guest experiences such as tours, Spirit Guides, a cocktail bar, and hands-on cocktail classes. In addition, they release quarterly bottles through a Local Bottle Club, which members pick up directly at the distillery.

History

Development of Local Bourbon Lines

Rock Town Distillery has worked to place Arkansas on the whisky map by developing bourbons based on local recipes and ingredients. A central initiative is The Column Still Collection: a bourbon line based on Arkansas formulations, which are reportedly distilled in Kentucky and then brought back to Little Rock for aging. In parallel, the distillery has experimented with local variants referred to as rice bourbon and established a Local Bottle Club for quarterly, local releases.

Local Bottle Club and Pick-up on Main Street

To circumvent direct shipping restrictions in the state, Rock Town has established a Local Bottle Club: members are notified by email with each release, pay, and pick up their bottle quarterly at the Main Street address in Little Rock. This model ties production more closely to the local community and ensures that special releases are distributed directly from the distillery.

Raw Materials and Production

For selected releases, Rock Town uses ingredients from Arkansas and works with recipes that include, among others, wheat and the aforementioned rice bourbon. One of their lines bears the name Column Still Collection, which indicates the use of column distillation; this collection is, in practice, distilled in Kentucky and returned to Little Rock for aging. The distillery also works with finish experiments, including finishing in turbinado rum finish. On site, Spirit Guides convey the technique through tours and cocktail classes, so guests gain insight into the distillation process and can experience the products in the bar.

Aging and Barrel Types

Rock Town ages certain releases in Little Rock after external distillation, and they experiment with finishes in a turbinado rum finish. This approach enables combining Arkansas recipes and ingredients with local aging conditions, so different cask types and aging can create variation between quarterly releases.

Whiskies

The portfolio ranges from Rock Town Vodka to bourbons under the Rock Town Arkansas Bourbon name and includes newly developed lines such as Column Still Collection. The distillery also releases special quarterly bottles via Local Bottle Club, which are often inspired by local ingredients and finish experiments such as rum finishes. Many releases are distributed primarily locally and picked up at the distillery.
