Company History

• Origin and passion-driven background: Faer Isles Distillery is run by enthusiasts who work closely with nature and emphasize authenticity, quality, and diversity. Originally, the first whisky news and tasting community on the Faroe Islands was founded, which later developed into the production of whisky and several other quality spirits based on local botanicals and culinary traditions.
• Heritage and founding: Since day one the company has been driven by entrepreneurial spirit and a deep passion for flavor and spirits. Participation in equity-raising rounds began in 2021, and there are planned additional fundraising rounds in 2023 and 2025 to expand capacity and marketing.
• Development over time: Refurbishment and expansions in Vestmanna (2020–2021) and later in Kvívík (2022–2023) with construction of a whisky distillery, brewery, bar, showroom and new warehouses. Grand opening of the whisky distillery and brewery in January 2023, and 2023 commissioning of new warehouses in Kvívík. 2025 expansions and rounds follow to finance branding and global markets. First whisky is expected after three years of maturation in 2026.

Production Details

• Production facilities and capacity: Faer Isles has a 1-tonne whisky distillery and brewery from LH Stainless/Speyside Copper Works. Current facilities include whisky stills and equipment for producing new spirits.
• Production plan and process:
• 2019–2020: Test production and experiments with distilling eight types of Faroese seaweed and other local botanicals, as well as development of a whisky recipe.
• 2021: Setup of 400 L neutral-spirit stills at a temporary distillery in Vestmanna; test production of gin and aquavit.
• 2022: Setup of whisky distillation equipment in Vestmanna with a capacity of 500 L per week; launch of North Atlantic Subsea Vodka on the Faroe Islands.
• 2023: Commissioning of the new whisky distillery and brewery, as well as a bar and visitor center; commercial distillation of whisky and aging of new spirit in barrels.
• 2026: Expected first whisky aged at least 3 years, and the first release.
• Areas and logistics: Production area in Vestmanna and later in Kvívík; hjallur warehouses for slow maturation and the opportunity for optimal storage and unique flavor development.
• Other product range: In addition to whisky, Faer Isles also produces other quality spirits based on local botanicals and maritime traditions, including gin, aquavit, and North Atlantic Subsea Vodka.

• Description and flavor focus:
• Bourbon: Vanilla, caramel and spices with notes of coconut and fruity elements; balanced with malt and maritime notes.
• PX Sherry: Deep sweetness of dates, figs, and chocolate; structure and tannins from Spanish oak.
• Oloroso: Nutty character with dried fruits and a rich palate; oxidative nuances.
• Tawny Port: Oxidized fruits, fine spices and elegant depth.
• Moscatel: Floral and tropical fruits; fresh, fruity, and lightly sweet profile.
• Banyuls: Red fruits, chocolate and spiced sweetness; mineral notes and exotic wine-derived nuances.
• Carcavelos: Caramelized nuts, orange zest and spiced honey; rich nuance and warmth.
• NEOC®: Darker spices, elegant smoke and longer finish; faster maturation and more complexity.
• Realisation as cask ownership: Cask ownership is personal and temporary, and owners receive a certificate, the option for samples, and full insight into the maturation process. The first rounds sold out quickly in 2023, 2024 and 2025; further releases planned for 2026.
• North Atlantic Subsea Vodka and other products: In addition to whisky, Faer Isles also produces other spirits, including the unique North Atlantic Subsea Vodka, which launched around 2022 and continues thereafter.

Events and News

• Foundation and memberships: Faer Isles Founder’s Club memberships launched in 2021; equity issuances and token-based plans announced the same year and thereafter.
• Refurbishment and openings: Refurbishment of the distillery in Vestmanna (2020–2021); opening of the whisky distillery and brewery, bar and visitor center in Vestmanna, January 2023; new warehouses in Kvívík brought into use later that year.
• Product launches and festival activities: North Atlantic Subsea Vodka launched in 2022; Sleppingur releases ongoing (sold out in 2023; continued in 2024 and 2025) with planned releases in 2026 in connection with final marketing and whisky launch in November.
