History

Fieruaas Distillery & Fjäre is a family-owned distillery in Fjärås, Sweden. Owner Michael Zachrisson had more than thirty years of experience in the wine and spirits industry and was Sweden CEO for Allied Domecq. In 2019 he took the leap together with his son Jacob and daughter Linn and founded Fieruaas Distillery & Fjäre. The distillery is located in Fjärås and run as a family business with a focus on craftsmanship, flavor development and local ingredients. Production

Distillates

• Non-Smoky New Make Whisky: Made from the finest malts and showcasing the essence of locally grown barley and the methods that govern it.
• Smoky New Make Recipe: Malted barley, with a smoke signature in varying degrees as desired, where the distinctive smokiness adds complexity and a robust flavor profile.

Cask Types

• Swedish Oak Casks: Impart spices and a light sweetness from Swedish oak.
• American Bourbon Casks: Impart caramel and vanilla notes, as expected from traditional bourbon barrels.
• Oloroso Sherry Casks: Adds layers of complexity with influence from oloroso sherry.
• Rum Casks: Give tropical and exotic notes as well as a gentle sweetness and warmth.

Whisky Production

FJÄRE SINGLE MALT WHISKY is released in small batches with different finish casks. The malted barley comes from a nearby farm, and the process from harvest to fermentation is carried out at the distillery. After distillation, the whisky matures for three years in Swedish oak casks and then rests for one year in a finish cask—either single or in a combination of character casks, e.g. rum, oloroso sherry, bourbon, madeira or port wine. The alcohol strength is around 46% ABV, and the bottles are 500 ml.

46% alc/vol, 500 ml. Aged in Swedish oak casks for three years and finished thereafter in one or more character casks (rum, oloroso sherry, bourbon, madeira or port wine).

Philosophy

Fieruaas Distillery is a family-driven project where every bottle is distilled and bottled by the master together with family and friends. Emphasis is placed on craftsmanship, use of locally sourced malt and a slow development of flavor and character through generations of knowledge.
