History

Säntisblick Distillery is located in Niederbüren in the canton of St. Gallen. Since 2011 they have run their own wood-fired distillery and distill Edelbrände in accordance with their own visions. Here lays the foundation for Vieille Prune, Vieille Poire, liqueurs as well as Swiss Whisky and Gin. The horizon constantly embraces testing and exploration – the schnaps idea becomes reality, and there is room to create their own liqueurs, their own gin projects and perhaps even their own whisky. There is emphasis on using the region's fruits and local ingredients, and work is done without artificial colors and aromas. Craft, Straight and natural spirit products are in focus, and there is a whisky- and cask cellar for aging a variety of spirits.

Production / Manufacturing

The distillery has its own wood-fired distillery bench and works with a range of casks and new makes in the whisky cellar. The common denominator is quality and regionally anchored raw materials, without artificial additives, and all products are marketed as Craft, Straight and natural spirits. There is an opportunity to realize ideas in collaboration with the company, e.g., own liqueurs or own gin project, as well as various whiskies in different cask maturations.

Products / Whisky Series

• Vieille Prune & Vieille Poire Liqueurs: The Vieille Prune and Vieille Poire specialties have a range of variations, including Vieille Prune d’Elena „s’blaue Wunder“, Vieille Prune „Reserve du Patron“ and Vieille Poire Williams „Sonnigs Gmüet“, as well as options to obtain a personal Vieille Prune Liqueur cask.
• Edelbrände: A selection such as St. Gallados, Kirsch „Lebenswasser“, Zwetschge „Klassiker“, Williams „Melodie“, Bernese Rose „Leidenschaft“, Aprikose „Mondhüüler“ and Sauerkirsch Edelbrand are available, many with historical and regional references.
• Gin: The range includes Local Gin, Pink Gin, Crosstown Gin and Gin trifft Williams, with ongoing seasonal variants and future additions.
• Single Malt and Whisky: The Swiss Whisky family includes Sherry Single Malt Whisky, 1610 Whisky (House Whisky), Wil Baron Single Malt Whisky and Distillers Choice Single Malt Whisky – some variants are aged in Port wine, Sherry, Madeira barrels and Vieille Prune cask, with dedication to regional malts and different cask treatments. In addition, there are opportunities to order your own whisky project and receive guidance in customer-specific cask and malt specifications.
• Ribelmais Whisky: Aged five years or longer in ex-Bourbon barrels (at least), made from two-thirds corn and one-third barley malt – an award-winning whisky (Gold Award at Craft Spirits Berlin 2025) and part of a growing series of single malts and other whisky variants.
• Notes: The products also include a range of “Sherry”, “Port wine” and other cask-aging in the whisky cellar, where pre-treatment may form part of bespoke whisky needs.

Visit / Experiences

There are tastings and distillery tours in the tasting room, including a tour of the distillery and the cellar. For example, one can experience a distillery tour with a tasting of Vieille Prune, Vieille Poire, Edelbrände, Whisky and Gin, as well as whisky tastings with accompanying cellar tour. The group can also participate in company events and association outings, or become part of the “Beim Whiskybrennen dabei sein” experience with participation in the malting and distillation process and a cellar visit.

Philosophy

The core of Säntisblick is quality and a strong regional anchoring: Fruit and raw materials come from their own or nearby region, and all products are produced without artificial colors or aromas. They place emphasis on Craft, Straight and natural spirits, as well as continually experimenting and creating new ideas with nature as an inspiration.
