History

Hollen is the first Swiss Whisky Distillery. The history begins at the traditional farm 'Hollen' in Lauwil. At first, milk was produced and more than 500 fruit trees shaped the landscape. In the 1990s, the first brewery appeared – a first step that unexpectedly escalated into a unique journey. The decisive moment came on 1 July 1999: at Brennerei Bader the first drop of Whisky flowed – exactly at the same time Switzerland lifted the ban on grain spirits. This 'Baby Whisky' became the starting gun for something that still writes history. Since then they have passionately been dedicated to producing Whisky with character. The distillates are aged in selected oak casks, which give them a unique profile: soft vanilla notes in Chardonnay casks, fruity berry notes and a hint of smoked malt. They are among the smallest Whisky distilleries in the world; precisely this small size makes them particularly: craftsmanship, precision and great passion create Whisky that stands out from the crowd.
