History
Distillerie Hotz is located at Hotzenhof in Baar and is run by the Hotz family. Since 1882 the family has produced Edelbrand, and the distillery has been in the family for five generations. Kaspar Hotz the Third began producing Edelbrand in 1882, especially Kirsch, Zwetschgen and Träsch. With each generation, the quality of our distillates has been refined, and master distillers Hermann and Philipp Hotz stand at the distillery today. The distillation takes place on the farm, which provides a close connection between the fruit and the distillation facilities, so that the fruit can be picked at optimal ripeness and processed immediately. All Edelbrands are produced from the fruits from Hofet in Baar. We combine the familyâs more than 100 years of knowledge with the best ingredients and a generous portion of experimentation. The result is fine, high-quality Edelbrands, enjoyed neat.
- Kirsch: the standard edition, and four variants; for example Kirsch in Kirschholz-Barrique for a soft aftertaste. Zwetschgen-Edelbrand and Vielle Prune, where barrique aging is also used. Träsch. And in recent years the range has been expanded with several other Edelbrände.
Production
Fruits and other ingredients are grown at Hotzenhof (own cultivation and processing on site). Our distillation processes ensure that fruit ripens at optimal stages and is processed immediately. Kirsch and Zwetschgen undergo barrique aging to enhance flavor and aroma. The house Edelbrands are produced exclusively from the fruits from Hofet in Baar.
Products
All Edelbrands are produced on the farm from their own fruits. Selected varieties include Kirsch, Zwetschgen and Träsch; there are also varieties such as Zwetschgen-Edelbrand and LÜrpflaumen in Barrique as well as other Edelbrände in recent years.
