History
Distillerie du Risoux is located in Les Charbonnières and was founded in 1992 by Dominique and Doris Bonny-Honegger. With the acquisition of two distillation units, VD 15 and VD 85, from Auberge du Mollendruz, the Epinettes 2 premises were converted into a distillery, while a tinplate sheet-metal activity was maintained.
Thanks to the knowledge of the former distiller and an ad hoc course at the Changins School, Dominique Bonny carries on a fusion of craft and local know-how, with the registered trademark Gentiane de la Vallée de Joux 45% and the blue label created by painter Pierre Cotting.
In addition to eau-de-vie, the distillery also produces a liqueur based on gentian and fir-cone syrup called Missile sol-air, which has been honored by juries on several occasions. The local story of gentian is also continued through the book Gentian at the Heart of Our Roots, prepared in connection with the nomination of Les Charbonnières as European Gentian Village and which chronicles two centuries of gentian history in the Vallée de Joux.
