Historie
Brennerei Stalder is located in Weggis, 500 m above sea level, on the south side of Rigi. The area has a mild climate and mineral-rich spring water. For more than 100 years they have produced fruit brandy and later distilled and refined their own products.
In 1989 Florian Stalder and the family took over the farm from Xaver's parents. In 1992 they began direct marketing of specialties from their own Brennerei, and in 1996 a new Tafelkirschen facility was established. In 2002 they left dairy production and installed a new, modern distillery; a party room for hosting guests was also created. In 2025 the operation passed into Florian's hands, and he continues to receive advice from Xaver Stalder.
Produktion/Fremstilling
On the farm, fruits come from over 300 high-stem trees and more than 1,000 fruit trees. The fruits are harvested with great care, and only the best are processed into distillates. The fruit pulp is fermented and distilled in a traditional process to create distillates with clear, fruity notes and long finishes. The distillation takes place at Brennerei Stalder, which also offers tours and tastings of their products.
Produkter/Whisky-serien
Whisky Queen of the Mountains is part of their range. N°4 70 cl 55.4% is a delicate Single Malt, which is twice distilled and aged in oak cask No. 4 for 10 years. There is also N°4 35 cl 55.4% with the same aging history. Their Single Malt Whisky in cask is described as: Cognac cask with a volume of 50 liters, aged since January 2020, and with a strength of 48.6% vol. According to the descriptions from the distillery, there is also a general narrative of a 5-year maturation in Barriquesfad No. 5 for their other whiskies.
In addition, Brennerei Stalder also produces Veris Gin and Weggiser Spezialitäten, Vieille-spezialitäten and Weggiser Spirituosen, based on fruits from the farm's fruit trees and seasonal products.
Besøg/Oplevelser
Their distillery offers guided tours of Brennerei with tastings including coffee and cake. The price for a guided tour is CHF 200 for up to 10 people and CHF 20 for each additional person. Duration about 2 hours. After the tour there is also the option to use their party room with a lunch/cold platter buffet for CHF 18 per person and about 3 hours. There are also diplomas (Gold and Silver) associated.
