History

Webhofer Family

Since 1989 Friedl and Magdalena Webhofer run the Obsthof in Gaimberg, East Tyrol, now in its third generation. Originally they ran a cattle farm and began in 1994 with professional fruit cultivation. Since 2000 they have been a pure fruit farm and grow 3 hectares of apples and pears. The alpine climate on the sunny side of the Lienzer Talboden provides ideal conditions for high-quality fruit, and this is reflected in their naturally cloudy apple juice and finest Edelbrände. Since 2010 they have used the former threshing barn as a Schaubrennerei (show distillery) and as a room for various events. Brennstadel has capacity for about 50 people and is equipped with projector, computer and sound equipment.

Distillery and Production

When fully ripe fruit is transformed in their modern Brennerei into Edelbrände, everything depends on the best raw materials and the right craft. They combine traditional knowledge with modern standards and bring together tradition and technology in a Brennerei.

Visits and Experiences

• Farm Shop: The products are sold directly in the farm shop. Opening hours: Monday–Friday 07:30–18:00; Saturday 08:00–12:00.
• Brennstadel: The former threshing barn is used as a Schaubrennerei and space for various events; capacity around 50 people and equipped with a projector, computer and sound equipment.
• Schnapps Tastings and Company Tours: Available tastings and tours of the operation.

Philosophy

The alpine climate on the Lienzer Talboden provides ideal conditions for high-quality fruit and distillates. The Webhofer family focuses on traditional craftsmanship combined with modern technology and produces products without additives in juice and with carefully selected distillates.
