History Marillenhof – Destillery – Kausl is located in Wachau, Ötz 16 in Mühldorf. The Wachau region is known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the distillery lies by the old Römerstrasse in Ötz. The Kausl family transform the season's sun-ripened fruits into paradise-like flavor experiences, and the Original Wachauer Marille as well as other fruits such as apples, pears, Dirndl, Hollunder, Kriecherl and several rare varieties become jam, nectar, Edelbrand and liqueur. Pure nature in the highest quality is the family's goal.

Production Whisky production takes place on site with grain varieties such as rye, barley, wheat, oats, spelt and Urkorn – as part of their own production. According to the site, water, yeast, and grain are the three core ingredients, and the aging takes place in oak barrels, primarily Austrian oak. Whisky in Wachau has been distilled since the mid-1990s using a modern distillation process (at least three distillations), and aged in specially crafted casks, often tailored to each batch.

Products / Whisky Series Marillenhof’s range includes Wachauer Whisky, Wachauer Marillennektar, liqueurs, Qualitätsedelbrände (Quality Edelbrands), as well as Fruchtaufstrich / Marmelade and Marillen Chutney. Under the Wachauer Whisky label, their whisky is marketed as Original Wachauer Whisky – part of the Wachau Genuss Hof universe.

Visits and Experiences A visit to Marillenhof – Destillerie includes Wachau Genuss Hof, guided tours and tastings. Tastings and guided tours are offered with information about the region, production, and products. Price: 5 euros per person for tastings and guided tour, 8 euros including Schaubrennen (distillation demonstration). There are also group programs and the possibility of a tour on Welterbesteig, as well as group trips and experiences for special themes.
