History
The Keckeis Distillery is located in Rankweil and run by Harald Keckeis. The distillation process nearly laid Harald Keckeis flat, and his grandmother made high-quality spirits. In 2008 he produced his first whisky; shortly afterwards gin followed, and in the years since also rum.
Production / Manufacturing
Nature: Water is central; a sustainable approach to raw materials and water underpins the production. Raw materials: Selected ingredients are used, such as organic sugar beet molasses for rum, selected herbs for gin, and a special mash for whisky, which is subsequently aged in special casks. Craft: Each bottle is hand-filled, sealed, labeled, cleaned and packaged by hand, so that each product has a unique quality. Technology: The distillation processes have been perfected over the years and supported by advanced technology; the distiller follows the process, and the first drops are judged by sight, smell and taste.
Products / Whisky Series
Keckeis Single Malt is a whisky aged in sherry casks, with notes of green banana and sherry and balanced wood tones. The aftertaste is incredibly soft and mild and can resemble dry sherry with vanilla. In addition to the single malt, other products in the Keckeis range include Keckeis Gin, Keckeis Aronia Gin, Keckeis Oro Rum, Keckeis Moonshiner and Keckeis Still Man’s. All products are available in the online shop.
Philosophy
The distillery describes itself as something that arises from passion and honest craftsmanship. According to Keckeis, producing excellent spirits is about three ingredients: high-quality raw materials, meticulous processing, and effortless passion. Emphasis is placed on the importance of water and sustainable use of resources. Technical solutions and craftsmanship go hand in hand to achieve exceptional results.
