History

Mount Compass Spirits was formed in 2014 by owners David and Jenny Martin with a desire to produce high-quality craft-distilled spirits. In 2015 Mount Compass Spirits took shape, and the first production under the Mount Compass Spirits flagship occurred in July 2016 with our wheat-based vodka. Thereafter followed in December our standard gin. Later came products such as Black Pepper Gin, Mount Compass Moonshine (63.5% ABV) and our strong botanical gin G3.

Production / Manufacturing

The distillation base is built on the use of sources and ingredients described on the page: vodka based on wheat, gin distilled with Australian grain alcohol and with traditional and origin botanicals; Barrel Aged Gin is made from Australian grain and aged in American Oak Shiraz-wine-barreled casks with port conditioning. In addition to gin, Mount Compass Spirits also offers rum (Dark Coconut Rum and Blazing Iron Rum), agave spirit, moonshine and brandy.

• Distilled Gin: distilled with Australian grain alcohol and traditional, indigenous botanicals (juniper, Angelica, coriander and citrus notes).
• Barrel Aged Gin: made from Australian grain, aged in American oak barrels seasoned with Shiraz wine, with port characteristics.
• Dark Coconut Rum: rich and creamy with flavors of fresh and roasted coconut (40% ABV).
• Blazing Iron Rum: derived from sugar cane and grain-based alcohol, aged at least 2 years in American oak Shiraz wine barrels, released in various versions.
• VSOP Brandy: produced from Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and aged at least 4 years in American oak wine barrels.
• No.8 Vodka: triple-distilled from Australian grain (40% ABV).
• Agave Spirit: produced from Australian agave syrup.
• Moonshine: high-proof spirit (63.5% ABV) distilled from a blend of grain and sugarcane alcohol with a citrus note.

Products / Whisky Series

Mount Compass produces whisky, including Single Barrel Whisky and Contempt Single Barrel Whisky. The products are marketed as follows: - Single Barrel Whisky (700 ml, 45% ABV) – Contempt Single Barrel Whisky (Release 4 and Release 5, 700 ml, 45% ABV), both derived from American oak barrels.

Visits / Experiences

Mount Compass Spirits is connected with Doc Martin Wines and has plans for a Cellar Door; there is a “Cellar Door Coming Soon” sign and there is a “Find Us” page for visiting and experiential opportunities.

Mount Compass Spirits was formed with a desire to produce quality handcrafted spirits. According to the story, they hope in the future to expand to a wide range of spirits and more specialized products, and the goal is to deliver products as good as possible.
