Historie

The Michard brewery opened in Limoges in 1987. In 2006 they began production of whisky. The brewery produces and sells its own whisky under the name J.Michard in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Owners: Jean Michard and Julie Michard. The company has two addresses in Limoges: Michard en Ville, 8 Place Denis-Dussoubs, 87000 Limoges, and Michard à l’Usine, 39 Allée de Faugeras, 87100 Limoges.

Produktion / Fremstilling

The fermentation uses a Saccharomyces cerevisiae culture of more than 100 years, locally cultivated. Alambics: Holstein and a column still (both in use since 2011). Distillation takes place in four runs and the distillate is never stored below 80% ABV; it is filled into casks at 68% ABV. The water is demineralized. Cereals: malted barley. The casks consist of Limousin oak casks (ex-sherry) and American oak casks (bourbon).

Range: J.Michard Whisky. The distillery bottles only single casks at 43% ABV.
