Historie
La Bambelle Brasserie is a farm-brewery in Saint Gravé and part of the Marmite-network. Four partners are behind it: Gwénnolé Le Galloudec, Stéphane Jehanno, Elouan Terrien and Typhaine Loyer. The brewery grows and malts its own ingredients and has for about 10 years worked with produce from their fields to offer a range of beers and spirits that express terroir and invite a journey through different world regions.
Produktion/Fremstilling
The raw materials come primarily from their own fields: barley, rye, buckwheat and wheat, and they malt them themselves. Their area of operation also includes wild herbs harvested in the hedges around the plots. The brewery promotes terroir and gathers know-how from different corners of the world in their production.
Produkter/Whisky-serien
The whisky is named Les Belles plantes and is a single malt, bottled at around 40-45% alcohol. It ages in carefully selected oak casks for four years. Each year a new whisky is released, honoring a herb from the fields: Papaveracae (aged in Banyuls casks) and Convolvulus (harvest 2019) are two examples. Their "Single Cask Sinope" release will be available at the beginning of December. The price of the whisky is 35€ for a 50 cl bottle.
Besøg/Oplevelser
Tastings and presentations are held, for example a tasting of La Bambelle's whiskies on 6 December at Épi’centre, followed by an Irish session in the brewery. Sales are conducted directly and via selected shops and markets; bottles are filled into 75 cl bottles. There are various events and parties as a way to engage the local community.
Filosofi
La Bambelle focuses on terroir and on gathering know-how. Their descriptions of wild plants and cultivation in the fields emphasize a desire to express the earth's complexity and to link the relationship between the region and the products they produce. They collect know-how from different parts of the world and actively collaborate locally through Marmite-network and partner collaborations.
