History

• Ets Lapurdi is a Basque spirits brand and part of a range of fine Basque spirits products (gin, rum and whisky) produced in the Basque Country under one brand. The brand describes itself as selectors of fine spirits and has a coherent range of products with a unique history and graphic identity.
• According to their approach, the aim is to offer spirits produced in the Basque Country, but also a range of craft products for both beginners and connoisseurs of quality alcohol with recipes and blends that are both sophisticated and accessible. Each year they produce unique, limited batches to achieve products of exceptional quality while ensuring the supply of natural materials.
• Ets Lapurdi is associated with the Acha distillery in Amurrio (Álava), which was founded in 1831. The subsidiary has five generations of family ownership and nearly two centuries of know-how. Manuel Acha S.A. distillery is one of the oldest family businesses in Spain and one of the three oldest family businesses in Europe.
• The brand is based in Anglet (Lapurdi/Labourd), and all spirits are produced in Amurrio, Álava, at the Acha distillery.

Production

• Whisky production takes place at the Acha Distillery in Amurrio, Basque Country. Ets Lapurdi presents two whiskies: Single Malt Basque Whisky and Blended Malt Whisky, both described as 3-year-old whiskies aged in Navarre-aged casks and made from a blend of malt and grain whiskies.
• Single Malt Basque Whisky: a 3-year-old single malt, aged in Navarre-aged casks, made from a blend of malt and grain whiskies. Colour: intense amber. Nose: vanilla, grain base, bread; Palate: fresh start, malty, soft and elegant, smoky and heathery notes. Alcohol content: 40%. Packaging: 6 bottles, 70 cl. Year: 2023.
• Blended Malt Whisky: origin: Acha Distillery – Amurrio – Álava – Euskadi. A 3-year-old whisky aged in Navarre-aged casks, made from a blend of malt and grain whiskies. Colour: intense amber.
