Historie
Oprindelse og placering
Celtic Whisky Distillerie was founded in 1997 and is a craft distillery in northern Brittany, located in Pleubian in Côtes-d’Armor. It is a pioneer company within French whisky and has quickly established itself among around 50 distilleries in France. The traditional distillation and aging, as well as the distinctive Breton location, provide optimal conditions for the production of malted barley-based whiskies.
Særlig historie og bygning
Since 1999 the distillery has been housed in an old farm from 1668 at the end of the Sauvage peninsula, where the sea meets land. This climate and these traditions have greatly inspired the creators of Celtic Whisky Distillerie. The distillery is run by a family of around ten people, who share a common love for characterful whisky and quality French products.
Anerkendelse og detailhandel
Kornog and Glann Ar Mor are among the distillery's most award-winning whiskies and are often mentioned in The Whisky Bible. Kornog was honoured as European Whisky of the Year in 2016. Gwalarn won gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021 at its launch. The distillery runs a shop in the heart of the Trégor region as well as a shop in Paimpol, and emphasizes conviviality and the sharing of French products.
Produkter og formål
The distillery produces Kornog (peaty single malt), Glann Ar Mor (unpeated single malt) and Gwalarn (Celtic blend), as well as a range of limited editions and finish variants.
