History

Aurora Spirit Distillery is the world's northernmost whisky distillery, located at Lyngenfjord beneath the majestic Lyngen Alps in Northern Norway (69°N). The distillery and the brand Bivrost have attracted international attention for their spectacular location and Arctic production. The history includes hints of Viking-age drinking culture and the tale of making moonshine in Northern Norway. There is also the ARCTIC HISTORY TRAIL, which guides visitors through Arctic heritage.

Production

One of our experienced team members guides visitors through the process behind producing various types of spirits – vodka, aquavit, gin and whisky – at the world's northernmost distillery. The visit provides insight into the Arctic range of ingredients, and the production environment includes outdoor walkways and cold-storage warehouses. There is an emphasis on high-tech alcohol production at the top of the world.

Products/Whisky Series

Whisky is produced under the Bivrost brand as well as other spirits such as vodka, aquavit and gin. During the Arctic Whisky Experience, three different Bivrost products can be seen and tasted (an extended tasting may be possible). The Select Cask Experience offers a deeper tour and a taste of single-cask whiskies, straight from the cask. The Distillery Founder’s Experience provides the opportunity to taste single-cask whiskies as well as vodka, aquavit and gin. The layout and equipment include outdoor walkways and cold-storage halls.
