Historie

Elora Distilling Company is located in the heart of downtown Elora, Ontario. According to history, their journey began in the late 1990s when partners Mark and a friend connected with Dr. Steve Thorning and began exploring cocktails and reviving a local dream. They were inspired by the Art Deco era and historic hotel experiences, which set the tone for the distillery and its approach to handcrafted spirits. Over the years they built the distillery and focused on bringing the area's culture and craftsmanship into production. The group behind Elora Distilling Company, known as "The Group of Seven," consists of friends and family from the local community and neighboring areas, contributing various skills to realize the vision. They are today an open, locally produced distillery with a strong local anchoring in Elora and surrounding areas.

Produktion / Fremstilling

The distillery is described as a grain-to-glass distillery, producing award-winning spirits with local grains and botanicals. They highlight craftsmanship and local ingredients as the foundation for their products, as well as an aesthetic and hospitality inspired by 1920s glamour. The specialty includes glass and lounge experiences in the Royal Room as well as private events in spaces designed with a focus on elegance, service and history. Some products are highlighted as aged in wooden casks and produced with a meticulous distillation process.

Produkter / Whisky-serien

Royal Amber Whiskey

A rye-forward whiskey, produced exclusively from local grains and double-distilled. Aged a minimum of 3 years in handmade, wood-filled Kelvin Cooperage barrels (#3 char). The whiskey is described as complex and spicy with hints of vanilla and caramel. The product has an alcohol strength of 46% ABV and comes in a 750 ml bottle. In connection with design and craftsmanship, it has also won bronze at the Artisan Distillers Awards Canada in 2024.

Besøg / Oplevelser

Elora Distilling Company offers a range of experiences and events such as tours, tastings, and cocktail classes. Tours & Tastings are priced at around 30 USD (50% deposit required when booking online) and include a cocktail at the bar and a guided tour of their products. In addition, there are themed events such as Downton Abbey Cocktail Class, private cocktail classes (weekend and weekday versions), and various themed evenings as well as the Ontario Craft Gin Festival and Ontario Craft Whiskey Festival held at the Elora Centre for the Arts. There are also private events in the Royal Room and Juniper Loft, highlighting the distillery's luxurious environment and the opportunity for unique experiences.

Elora Distilling Company ligger på 102 Metcalfe Street, Unit 4 i Elora, Ontario. De driver Royal Room Cocktail Lounge i åbningstiderne torsdag til søndag og tilbyder private arrangementer og booking af ture/oplevelser samt en række produkter til online salg og fysisk detailhandel.
