History

Wyndberg Distillery is a distillery and experiential venue in Lüneburg. They run an online shop and host a range of events and tastings, and the distillery is located at Egersdorffstraße 1a, 21337 Lüneburg. Contact is via info@wyndberg-destille.de. The range consists of a number of spirits such as Apple brandy, gin, Limoncello, New Make Spirit, rum, vodka, and a whiskey series consisting of Single Malt Whisky (American oak and German oak). Their products highlight the use of regional spring water and local ingredients from the Lüneburger Heide.

Production/Manufacturing

Production and content are clearly shaped by regional raw materials and spring water. Gin and other spirits are highlighted as made with regional spring water and selected ingredients from the Lüneburger Heide. New Make Spirit is the pure distillate from barley malt fermentation and distillation and is hand-filled into bottles without wooden cask aging. Limoncello uses Amalfi lemons. Apple brandy and other fruit distillates are produced from regional apples and spring water. Single Malt Whisky is described as matured in American oak for about three years in a 60-year-old American oak cask and has the variant with a 0.05 L tasting bottle showing 46% alcohol for some versions.

Products/Whisky Series

Wyndberg produces Single Malt Whisky in two wood types: American Oak and German Oak. Available variants include: - Single Malt Whisky American Oak 0.5 liter – about €65 (also a 0.5 L version). - Single Malt Whisky American Oak 0.05 liter tasting bottle – about €10 (€20 per 100 ml). - Single Malt Whisky German Oak 0.5 liter – about €65. - Single Malt Whisky German Oak 0.05 liter tasting bottle – about €10 (€20 per 100 ml). According to the description, aging in American oak is about three years in a 60-year-old American oak cask, and the two woods indicate a varied whisky profile.

Visits/Experiences

In addition to the products, a range of events and experiences are offered: whisky tastings and gin tastings ('Whisky-Tasting', 'Gin-Tasting') in and around Wyndberg. Their calendar also includes special dinner experiences such as 'Wyndberg Meets East' (sushi & sashimi), four-course murder mystery dinners, Valentine’s menus, Soulful Dinner with Lutz & Edwards, and thematic tastings such as 'Gin at Its Best'. Many of the events take place in the restaurant next to the distillery in Lüneburg, and the dates span 2025–2026 with the possibility to inquire via info@wyndberg.de or info@wyndberg-destille.de.

Philosophy

The distillate emphasizes regionality and natural ingredients. There is an emphasis on using regional spring water and selected ingredients from the Lüneburger Heide in gin and other spirits, while Amalfi lemons are used for Limoncello and regional apples for Apfelbrand. The process highlights craftsmanship and short supply chains through direct sales via the online shop and events instead of mass production.
