Historie

Tradition binder. The distillery's history goes back to the end of the 19th century. In 1890 Franz Berberig bought the former manor buildings and founded the inn on the site that would later become the guesthouse known as 'zur Rose'. In 1908 my great-grandfather Wilhelm Münch established a family distillery in the house's basement. This distillery was fully renovated in 2008 and equipped with a distillation plant from the Adrian Grossheubach company. The name 'Berberische Rosenbrennerei' creates the historical connection to Franz Berberig and the beginnings as Gasthof 'zur Rose'. Personal career: 1979–1983 apprenticeship as a farmer in the family-run operation. 1988 passed the agricultural master examination. 1991 continuation of farming as a part-time business; since 1991 bus driver with Lienenverkehr. In 2008 a newly purchased distillery setup.

Their products also note double cask aging for Winterhauch Whisky (10 years). In addition to whisky there are geists such as Schlehengeist and Himbeergeist as well as various fruit brandies.
