History
For 100 years, the Hitzer Distillery in Neidlingen has been a small, family-owned distillery that processes its own fruit products from local fruit orchards into fine brandies and liqueurs. The family has work to do all year round, both in the distillery and in our own fruit orchards.
Production / Manufacturing
The distillery focuses on fruit production and distillation through the winter. In spring, the trees are pruned, new trees are planted, and the meadows are cared for. The cherry season begins at the end of June, and every year we spend at least four weeks on the ladders. Table cherries (varieties such as Baronen, Schneiders, Büttners, Braune Knorpel, Oktavia, Regina) are sold fresh right here on site. Schnapps cherries (Remstäler, Neidlinger Eichele, Dollenseppler, Benjamin) are mashed for distillation in barrels in the winter. After harvest we pick apples, pears, plums, mirabelle and nuts; these fruits are also sold fresh on site or pressed for distillation in the winter. Every year on September 21, the traditional Plum Market in Neidlingen and the plum festival on the following Sunday are held. We have a sales booth there. The distillery operates on Saturdays throughout the winter, which means that distillation takes place.
