History
Brandhaus7 took its current form in 2018 when the owner of the 400-year-old Hof embraced the idea of waking the distillery from Dornröschenschlaf. My husband, born in Zurich, and I left our secure jobs and moved back to my homeland – in the heart of the wilderness – to awaken the distillation and found Brandhaus7. I am trained as a Brennerin (distiller) and responsible for the entire product portfolio, supported by my family. Brandhaus7 stands as a combination of tradition and a modern approach: always without artificial gimmicks, with a clear vision of what should come in the glass – powerful, intense or finely aromatic, always no-nonsense.
The history behind the brand name and house
The name Brandhaus7 stems from the Black Forest farmer’s house’s complex building structure: the farmer’s house itself, a side house and Brennhäuschen (the distillation chamber), where the distilling-friendly space was preserved. The Brandhaus was located a short distance from the main house for safety reasons, and that is why Brandhaus features in the name – and 7 stands for the house number. The Brennhäuschen is nearby, where the distillations are still carried out.
The distillation and the source
Our own source provides not only the unique water for our brandies but also a symbol of tradition and renewal. With every distillation run we work with the fine aromas for the nose and palate, refining the recipes from a family tradition dating back more than 100 years.
Brandhaus7 in the media
Brandhaus7 has been mentioned in several media outlets over the years: 2024 Acher Renchtal Zeitung; 2022 Urlaubs- und Gastgebermagazin; 2023 Bad Peterstal-Griesbach; 2022 Kleinbrennerverband; 2022 Acher Renchtal Zeitung; 2022 Whisky Queen (#heimat Schwarzwald); 2021 Not for Women? Production
Tradition meets modern in our approach. We burn with wood from our own forest and use ingredients gathered directly outside the door – always with water from our own source. We distill on a 400-year-old farmstead and distillation center and follow a consistent and stringent production process, where we normally produce vintage brandies in small batches. Therefore, some fruit brandies are available in modest quantities. We focus primarily on craftsmanship and heritage in the distillation process.
- Wood from our own forest as fuel
- Ingredients gathered directly at the building
- Water from our own source
- Vintage brandies in small batches
- Consistent and stringent production
- Normally only vintage brandies (limited editions)

Philosophy
Our philosophy rests on a strong respect for nature and tradition, combined with a strict production process and clean products. We burn with wood from our own forest and use only ingredients gathered right outside the door, and water from our own source. We distill in accordance with old recipes and produce vintage brandies in small batches – which means that some products are available only in limited quantities. This approach yields clear aromas and an authentic “from nature – to the glass” experience without too many gimmicks.
