History

Great Northern Distillery (GND) is located in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, and was established in 1986. This places the company in the midst of a period when Irish whiskey experienced a revival after the 1980s. According to the site, the revival of Irish whiskey began in the late 1980s with the establishment of Cooley Distillery by John Teeling, and since then Irish whiskey has been one of the world's fastest-growing brown-spirit categories.
