History

Old Carter Whiskey Co is Mark Carter's passion project. Mark Carter has roots in the beverage industry and an award-winning career in California's wine world, including 25 “perfect score” 100-point wines. In 2011 he revived the long-dormant bourbon label Kentucky Owl together with the Dedman family. Kentucky Owl was sold unexpectedly in 2017, but Mark was so fascinated by Kentucky's whiskey community that he decided to carry on by creating his own voice in the Bluegrass. Old Carter Whiskey Co was born.

Headquartered in Louisville, the Old Carter team produces Straight Ryes, Bourbons and American Whiskies at locations across the USA. Each bottle is personally crafted by Mark Carter, who creates each blend and selects every single barrel program.
