History

Oakhurst Spirits was founded in 2017 by Mike and Ally Benbrook. As a couple they had over 30 years of business experience, including a factory operation near San Diego and running an art gallery in Balboa Park. They moved to the mountains to pursue the dream of opening a distillery and an art gallery. Ally died of cancer in 2019. Mike continues to run the distillery, and Gina Mims now showcases her work in the gallery and curates ongoing guest exhibitions. The property also includes Whiskey Mike’s Airbnb.

Production / Manufacturing

Our philosophy is to craft our craft spirits in small batches, with all ingredients locally sourced. We strive to source supplies from local businesses whenever possible to support our community. Each batch has a story and a carefully planned approach to achieving a unique flavor.

Products

Oakhurst Spirits offers whiskey, rum, vodka, gin, agave and bourbon. We offer tastings of our private label whiskey, rum, vodka, gin, agave, lavender vodka and bourbon.

Visits & Experiences

Hours: Friday and Saturday 2:00–7:00 PM, Sunday 12:00–5:00 PM. Gallery: The Gallery at Oakhurst Spirits presents original paintings and photographs as well as merch and gift items. Gallery exhibitions include Visions of Self (March – Women’s Exhibit), Au Naturale (April – Nudes Exhibit), Oakhurst Art & Wine Hop (May–October) and Sierra Art Trails’ first two weekends in October. There are also private tours of the distillery for guests staying on the property.
