History
Mystic Farm & Distillery began in 2013 when two friends started blending a unique liqueur made from bourbon, wild honey, and a nine-spiced tea. In 2015 they bought a 22-acre farm in Durham County and began the construction of the Triangle's first bourbon distillery since Prohibition. All of their spirits are handcrafted from grain they grow, water from their on-site aquifer, and produced with the greatest care and patience. They are proud to transform Piedmont's superior grain, water, and aging climate into the world's finest spirits, and they place emphasis on local customer relationships and the farm's environment. Mash-fed products also play a role in their system: every batch of bourbon from the grains and wheat they grow yields about 10,000 pounds of spent mash, which is used as nutrient-rich livestock feed by local farmers, and the process is tied to the sale of mash-fed beef.
Production / Manufacturing
Mystic produces spirits from grain grown on their own farm in Hillsborough and water from their on-site aquifer. After distillation, about 10,000 pounds of spent mash remain, which is used as animal feed by local farmers. This circular approach is reflected in their production model, where mash-fed beef is now sold locally. All products are handcrafted and reflect the time, love, and patience they put into the process. Their portfolio and marketing highlight the grain, the water, and the Piedmont climate as central elements of their spirits.

Philosophy
Mystic emphasizes craft and local rootedness: all spirits are handcrafted from grain grown locally, and the water comes from an on-site aquifer. They stress patience and traditional wisdom in production and see the Piedmont region's grain, water, and climate as central to their products. The mash residues from distillation illustrate their circular approach by supporting local agriculture through mash-fed beef.
