McClintock Distilling Company is an award-winning organic distillery in Frederick, Maryland. The distillery is run by co-founders Tyler Hegamyer and Braeden Bumpers and their families, and focuses on handcrafted spirits where creativity meets time-honored traditions.

Produktion og råvarer

The distillery is Maryland's first certified organic distillery and places emphasis on sustainability in production. They mill locally sourced, organic and heritage-oriented grains in an antique stone mill and use pesticide-free ingredients. Their approach combines timeless distillation methods with forward-thinking to deliver especially flavorful spirits. The gin production uses a vapor infusion process to preserve the integrity of the raw materials, and Gardener’s Gin is aged in Madeira wine casks, which provides color and a deeper flavor profile. The name McClintock Young symbolizes innovation and craftsmanship and inspires a balance between tradition and forward-thinking.

Produkter / Whisky-serien

McClintock produces gin, vodka, and two whiskey variants: Bootjack Rye Whiskey and Matchstick Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Bootjack Rye Whiskey: 90 proof. Nosing with dark cherry and marzipan; a bold and spicy rye flavor; the finish is delicate with a sweet note of banana bread. Matchstick Straight Bourbon Whiskey: 90 proof. Nosing of honey and figs; strong notes of tobacco and charcoal; the finish is light with hints of vanilla, caramel, and butterscotch.

Besøg og oplevelser

Visitors can experience tastings and guided tours. Tastings cost $5 and are refunded with the purchase of a bottle in the tasting room. Tasting hours are Tuesday–Thursday 12–6 PM, Friday–Saturday 12–8 PM, and Sunday 12–6 PM. Tours are held on Saturdays and Sundays with departures at Noon, 2 PM, 4 PM and 6 PM (Saturday) and Noon, 2 PM and 4 PM (Sunday). The address is 35 South Carroll Street in Downtown Frederick; parking is limited, with additional parking available in All Saints Garage. Dogs are welcome on the terrace but not inside the building. By law, tasting participants must be at least 21 years old. The visit provides the opportunity to explore the distillery rooms and sample spirits in the tasting room.

The Process Matters highlights stone-mill production, organic ingredients, and heritage grains to create high-quality, pre-Prohibition-inspired spirits. The Experience Matters emphasizes an inclusive experience and learning about the distillation process and flavor nuances. The Impact Matters focuses on sustainability and the protection of natural resources; they are Maryland's first certified organic distillery and work to recycle byproducts and reduce water usage.
