History

This is Company Distilling – Lynchburg distillery. This brand was born out of the desire to bring people together around fine spirits and to offer products you are proud to serve to your best companions. This is between friends is a central idea: people gather around good whiskey and good moments, and it should be something you can be proud to share. The pandemic at the beginning of the 21st century led to a new approach to when and how people gather, and Company Distilling was founded with the aim of creating spirits that fit such occasions.

Company Distilling consists of three distilleries in Tennessee: Lynchburg, Townsend and Thompson’s Station. Lynchburg lies in the heart of Tennessee whiskey country and is an official stop on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail. Townsend sits by the Little River and markets itself as the Peaceful Side of the Smokies. Thompson’s Station is one of the newer locations and is positioned as an area where you can experience small-batch whiskey in combination with a cocktail and bar selection.

The brand is described as a community project – a spatial framework where guests can enjoy the portfolio of bourbon, whiskey and rye, as well as Ace Gap-flavored spirits and Ghost Rail gin. In addition to whiskey there are also wintry and seasonal offerings such as limited releases and distillery-only products. The brand emphasizes being family-friendly and dog-friendly outside the distilleries.

Production / Manufacturing

Company Distilling uses both column and pot-stilled methods in production, and they describe a finishing process based on toasted maple wood for bourbon and cherry wood for rye. The bourbon “finished with maple wood” is described as a collaboration between a traditional aging process in oak and a proprietary maple finish: the maple wood (hard sugar maple) is toasted to caramelize natural sugars, reduced in size and integrated into the oak cask, after which the liquid is continually tasted to determine the finish. Bourbon and rye are produced with both column and pot stills, which gives different layers of character. Townsend’s distillery also mentions an Alembic-pot still that is used for Ghost Rail gin – this shows a craft-oriented approach across the portfolio.

Ace Gap-flavored spirits (Espresso, Harvest Apple, Vanilla Bean) are designed to create easy and high-quality cocktails with a single sustainable additive point. The product range also includes more exclusive editions such as Cask Strength Bourbon and Single Barrel Rye (Seismic Rye) – these products demonstrate a further development and experimental approach in terms of finishing and balancing the characters.

Derudover sælges der limited releases og distillery-exclusive produkter såsom forskellige Single Barrel/Exploratory Series-fløje og Ghost Rail gin. Porteføljen beskrives som en række produkter, der inviterer til at samles omkring et glas og et mindeværdigt øjeblik.

Besøg/Oplevelser

Company Distilling har tre lokationer i Tennessee (Lynchburg, Townsend og Thompson’s Station) med tasting rooms, portefølje-tastings, cocktails og mocktails, samt retail/bottle shops. Distillerierne tilbyder havner-tours og forskellige events: live musik, trivia, og andre arrangementer. Hver distillery har sine egne åbningstider og special events som Lynchburg Locals Night (tirsdage) og Ace Gap/Nothing Vodka-kortere tilbud. Lynchburg er et officiel stop på Tennessee Whiskey Trail. Det er muligt at booke tasting-oplevelser og tours online og i Townsend er der endda muligheden for en “Fill Your Own Bottle + Premium Tasting” oplevelse. Dyrkning af et “Beer Garden” og brug af en Airstream-bar i Townsend og Townsend Beer Garden giver en udvidet oplevelse for gæsterne. Gæster og kæledyr er velkomne udenfor.

Brandet beskriver sig selv som noget mellem venner – et fællesskab, hvor man ønsker at give og dele kvalitetsspirits, der er værd at samle om. Historien og filosofien står i forgrunden: “Whiskey as good as the company you keep” og ønsket om at være et sted hvor venner og familie kan samles omkring en god drink og gode samtaler. Grundlæggerne trækker på erfaring fra Tennessee Distillers Guild og industrien som helhed, og målet er at tilbyde spiritus, der passer til livets vigtige øjeblikke og sammenkomster.
