Historie

Los Californios is a craft artisanal distillery, located on 6 acres in Valle de Los Amigos just outside San Diego's backcountry. The distillery exists to enchant you by producing, for your pleasure, the most unique and innovative farm-to-flask spirits, made from their own fields and in collaboration with other farms, wineries, and breweries in California. We are the seventh generation of Californians, descended from independent families who settled Alta California more than 200 years ago. The ancestors' heritage is mentioned through the story of the 1847 map of Alta California and the Red Lone Star flag, created by Juan Bautista Alvarado. The whiskey is referred to as 'water of life,' and the distillery is described as a small agricultural farm that crafts spirits inspired by both living beings and ancient folklore. Papá León whiskey is distilled from a craft stout beer and inspired by grandfather Eduardo León; Träube brandy is made from locally handcrafted wine and named after an iconic German punk-rock bar from the 16th century. At night, owls and coyotes can be heard, and you can almost hear the Californio birds whisper in the wind. From our farm to your bottle, Cheers!
