History
Ledgerock Distillery is a family-owned distillery located on the Retzer Farm in Wisconsin. The distillery opened in 2018, and on the 500-acre farm the Retzer family grows, harvests, stores, mills, distills, bottles, and brands the grain. They plant the seeds and create the spirit – from seed to spirit. On the farm, yellow corn and soft red winter wheat are grown in a sustainable manner with minimum or no tillage to reduce water and wind erosion. This practice creates better soil structure, which provides better air and water filtration and higher quality grain. The entire process happens on the farm/distillery to create From Seed to Spirit.

Ledgerock Distillery sits on and operates the family's farm between Fond du Lac and Eden, Wisconsin. The distillery's name stems from the place – The Ledge – Niagara Escarpment, where ledgerock (limestone) helps filter the water supply and makes it ideal for the distillation process. We distill year-round using the grain we grow on the farm. Those who plant the grain are also the ones who distill, bottle, and brand our spirits. While you visit the distillery, you can see every step in the process – from the field to the production area, bottling, and storage facilities. We are open and distill year-round using the grain we grow on our farm. We welcome visitors Wednesday to Saturday 11:00–17:00. Tastings and cocktails are available every day, as are bottles for purchase.
Products and Production Philosophy
We produce a range of spirits based on grain from the farm: yellow corn and white winter wheat are grown sustainably, and the entire process takes place on the farm. The natural water source comes from ledgerock bedrock, which filters the water for the distillation.
Products / Whisky Series
- Retzer Farm Bourbon – a unique wheated bourbon made from grain grown on the Retzer Farm around the distillery. It is described as having a sweet note with a light finish and no burn, 92 proof (typically available in 375 ml and 750 ml bottles).
- Farm Boy Bourbon – our heaviest wheated bourbon with 30% wheat in the mash. Earthy sweetness at 90 proof. All grain and wheat in this offering are grown on the Retzer Farm around the distillery.
- Ledgerock Corn Whiskey – derived from yellow corn grown on the farm, aged in used oak barrels from different sources (used bourbon barrels, port wine barrels or used rum barrels). 100 proof. Available in 750 ml bottles.
- Ledgerock Vodka – made from 100% corn; triple distilled for a clean finish with a hint of buttery sweetness. 80 proof. Available in 375 and 750 ml bottles.
- Frost Bite Gin – a gin where the juniper is added in a way that keeps the piney notes to a minimum; bitter orange peel and coriander provide a citrus composition; 90 proof. Available in 375 and 750 ml bottles.
- Grandview Garden Gin – the gin base is 100% corn; distilled less intensely; juniper, sweet orange zest and coriander are added to provide a citrus aroma; rose wine juice brings out the color and gives a golden hue; light with a pronounced orange and a fruity twist. 80 proof. Available in 750 ml bottles.
Visits / Experiences
The distillery and farm sit between Fond du Lac and Eden, Wisconsin, at the corner of County Road H and Grandview Road. - Tours and Experiences: There is a Behind the Scenes option with Jay, where Jay lets guests see the process from seed to spirit (Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 12:00–13:00, limited group, first-come, first-served).
- Events and activities: We host ongoing events such as Sunday Fun Day – Loaded Bloody Marys, Merry Grinchmas, Old Fashioned Christmas, and other themed nights and farm markets.

Ledgerock Distillery is a family-owned farm business, where the entire process takes place on the same farm. The farm, the distillery, and all steps of production take place on the Retzer Farm under the From Seed to Spirit concept. The grain (yellow corn and soft red winter wheat) is grown sustainably with minimal or no tillage to prevent erosion and preserve soil structure. The water is filtered through ledgerock (limestone), providing a clean and suitable base for distillation. We grow, distill, bottle, and label our own spirits – a full farm-to-glass experience, with the family behind every step.
