Historie
J.W. Kelly & Co. was founded in Chattanooga, TN in 1866 by James Watt (J.W.) Kelly. Kelly was a pioneer in bourbons and whiskeys, who forged his unique plan for the whiskey revolution. After settling in Chattanooga, Kelly employed old-world pot distillation and a custom blend of corn, malted rye, and barley, contributing to Old Milford’s unique blend of five-, six-, and eight-year-old barrels. The brand set a standard of excellence and was esteemed not only in the South but around the world. Now, more than 100 years later, his dream lives on as a world-class spirit with Chattanooga soul.
In the lineup of products you’ll find Old Milford, Single Barrel, Golden Age Rye, Melrose Rye, and Silver Springs Sweet Rye. Additionally, Events and our new project are mentioned, along with an invitation to hear more and become part of Whiskeytown Chattanooga. The history also describes James W. Kelly’s expansions into tobacco, wine and spirits import, and large real estate projects over the years.
