History

Early Years

Matthew Henebery was born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1834. After the Potato Famine in 1849, the family emigrated and settled their path through Montréal, Buffalo and Chicago, before making a home in Peoria, Illinois.

Revival and the Distillery

In 2012 the family decided to revive the name and develop their spirit brand. They launched Henebery Celebrated Whiskey and worked their way to having their own production and business in Vista, California, where they opened a distillery and a tasting room in 2016.

Mission and Community

The brand focuses on high quality, direct-to-consumer sales, and community engagement. They operate under the slogan Skip the middleman and Direct sales from their family-owned distillery. Their business model also includes philanthropic initiatives, including donating 1% of revenue to Children With Hair Loss through Longhairs Do Care.
