History

Harmony Spirits was founded in Harmony, Minnesota. The founders Andy, Jim, and Larry met 16 years ago while working at a local ethanol plant and dreamed of a distillery close to home. The idea became a reality with support from 47 local investors, and Harmony Spirits was born. The company is locally owned by family and friends, and they build a business around the idea of from grain to glass. The grain for production comes from only a few miles from Andy's family's farm, and they use spent grain as feed back to the farm, completing a closed loop. The products are produced in small batches and are 100 percent handmade.

Production / Manufacturing

The spirits are handcrafted in Harmony in small batches with locally sourced grains. They are described as artfully distilled with care by Andy, Jim, and Larry. Vodka: made from 100 percent corn, triple distillation, charcoal filtered and bottled at 80 proof; a clean, creamy entry and smooth finish. Bourbon Whiskey: aged in new American white oak barrels from Barrel Mill in Avon, MN; bottled at 80 proof; 80 percent corn and 20 percent oats; notes of vanilla and caramel through the new oak finish. Whiskey: aged in used bourbon casks; bottled at 80 proof; 80 percent corn and 20 percent oats; aroma of brown sugar and vanilla, with toasted oak and black pepper. Barrel Strength Bourbon Whiskey: aged in new oak barrels and bottled at barrel proof; aroma of tobacco and toasted sugar; start creamy with vanilla and almond; finish of cinnamon and black pepper; neat or with ice. Gin: made from 100 percent corn and infused with juniper, lime, lemon zest and orange zest, cubeb and coriander; light juniper aroma and citrus; finish with a touch of black pepper. Rum: made from brown sugar syrup, cane rum and local honey; 80 proof; sweet and smooth with hints of vanilla and honey.

Visits / Experiences

Harmony Spirits offers a range of experiences for visitors: an indoor tasting room and outdoor seating; hours Thursday 2–7, Friday and Saturday 12–9, Sunday 12–5; Monday through Wednesday closed. Opportunity to taste their own products and enjoy cocktails in their local community spirits scene, and you can also purchase products on-site and take them home.

Philosophy

Harmony Spirits operates a closed loop: the grain comes from nearby farms, and the used grain is returned to agriculture as animal feed to close the cycle. The products are handmade in small batches and produced in locally owned facilities supported by the community, with a focus on high quality and smooth flavor. The story rests on a passion for farming and craftsmanship, and an unwavering focus on quality and local engagement.
