Historie

  • 1885 Green River founded by J.W. McCulloch as the 10th oldest licensed distillery in Kentucky (DSP-KY-10).
  • 1901 Green River won several international prizes.
  • 1907 the brand became known as the most advertised whiskey in the world.
  • 1913 Green River became official whiskey for the U.S. Marine Hospital for 18 years due to its high quality.
  • 1915 the slogan was The Whiskey Without Regrets.
  • 1917 deal: 20 barrels were exchanged for shares in a Colorado gold mine, and the whiskey gained a reputation as one of the most expensive spirits ever sold.
  • 1918 a fire destroyed the distillery and more than 40,000 barrels of whiskey were destroyed.
  • 1933 after Prohibition the distillery was rebuilt, and the brand was sold; the slogan changed to The Whiskey Without Regrets.
  • 1955 the end of an era; bourbon was no longer distributed.
  • 1956–1993 the distillery changed hands and was abandoned.
  • 2014, like a phoenix, reconstruction began; by 2016 there was a return to active production.
  • 2022 Green River Bourbon was launched; 2023 distribution expanded to 25 states and released Green River Wheated Bourbon and Green River Single Barrel.
  • 2024 Rye was added to the family; today Green River is an active producer and is referred to as the Pride of Owensboro.

  • Army 250th Anniversary – 55.55% ABV (111.1 proof); Mash Bill: 75% corn, 15% rye, 10% malted barley; flavors: caramel, black cherry, cocoa and peppermint; appearance: deep golden amber; finish: toffee and roasted oak; officially licensed for the U.S. Army (Licensing Program).
  • Rye (Kentucky Straight Rye) – 47.5% ABV (95 proof); Mash Bill: 95% rye, 5% malted barley; flavors: orange zest, fresh mint, crushed black pepper; finish: medium with rye-spice and tea notes.
