History
- Dirty Water Distillery is a micro-distillery located in Cordage Park in Plymouth, MA. The building was formerly a warehouse for the world's largest producer of maritime rope, and today it functions as a taproom and event space for craft spirits and beer enthusiasts.
- We are a group of creative people who aren’t afraid to try new things. The owner has a PhD in physics, and the head brewer teaches English as his daily job. Everyone around us has a philosophy of exploration and adventure, and we encourage everyone to give new things a chance, including learning to weld.
- After a year of study and experimentation in the gray areas of the law, we decided to start a distillery. We found a fantastic space in the heart of Plymouth, and obtained all permits, licenses and equipment. After yet another year we were up and running.
- We have two primary stills, both handmade by our friend Jesse Lupo in St. Albans, Maine (Trident Welding). The larger production still is 200 gallons with a custom-built copper bell. The smaller 10-gallon version allows us to run pre-production experimental batches in smaller volumes, which can easily be scaled to the larger still. These stills are named Dr. Evil and Mini Me. Additionally we have several smaller glass stills for experiments and proofing our products.
- We make artisanal liqueurs and spirits, not your grandfather’s liqueur, but new and exciting products that provide a modern flavor and fantastic cocktails.
- We intend to create new things rather than recreate established products. Our latest experiments have led to a family of vodka flavor variants and two gin variants made with local ingredients. Ongoing experiments push us in unique directions and include whiskies that we develop in collaboration with friends and input from customers.
Production
- We distill a corn-based vodka and through charcoal filtration we achieve a clean neutral spirit.
- Vodka variants: Ginger Vodka, Cranberry Vodka, Bacon Vodka, Horseradish Vodka, Chocolate Vodka, Vanilla Vodka.
- Gin variants: Bog Monster Cranberry Gin and Pioneer American Gin.
- Rum: What Knot White Rum made from table-grade molasses.
- Liqueurs and others: Limoncello, Velnias spiced honey liqueur, Bog Witch spiced cranberry liqueur.
- Whisky: The Bachelor - Single Malt Whiskey, produced with Massachusetts-grown and malted 2-Row barley malt, aged in 15-gallon new oak barrels and described as a sweet, smooth and clean flavor, approaching a Highland Scotch without smoke.
- Corona Project: Whisky created through upcycling damaged beer, where each batch is different and completely unique.
- We also have smaller glass stills for experiments and proofing products.
Whisky Series
- The Bachelor - Single Malt Whiskey
- Corona Project - Whiskey (unique batch, made from upcycled beer)

Philosophy
- We are a group of creative people who aren’t afraid to try new things. The owner has a Ph.D. in physics and the head brewer teaches English; everyone around us works toward a culture of exploration and adventure, and we encourage trying new flavors and learning new crafts such as welding.
- We want to create new flavors and experiences rather than reproduce what already exists, and our work with local ingredients and collaborations is part of that.
