History

Denali Spirits was founded in 2016 in Talkeetna, Alaska, with a passion for handmade premium distilled spirits of the highest standard. The company describes itself as small-batch and craft-rooted in exploration and a world without borders. Located at the foot of Denali and at the confluence of three mighty rivers, they work from time-tested traditions and intensive small-batch production. They also mention an employee-owned focus and are on the way toward full employee-owned ownership.

Production / Manufacturing

Denali Spirits focuses on craftsmanship through intensive, small-batch processes and time-tested distilling traditions. Their still (distillation apparatus) consists of a 1,200 liter copper- and stainless steel unit with a 21-plate vodka column and a 4-plate whiskey column. Distillation is powered by steam and runs for eight hours. The equipment includes shotgun condenser and a hybrid still design with onion head and neutral angle lyne arm. The still is named Django Reinhardt – an inspiration to turn adversity into art through perseverance and creativity. Their approach emphasizes craftsmanship and small-batch production.

Products / Whisky Series

Their range includes American single malt whisky and bourbon as well as barrel-aged spirits such as Barbados style rum, Agave Spirit and Coffee Whiskey.

American Single Malt Whisky

Distilled exclusively at their own distillery from 100% malted barley and aged in carefully selected new American oak barrels. The barrels are carefully charred and toasted on the heads to accentuate the spirit's character. Tasting notes: initial notes of oak and vanilla, followed by sweet bread, stone fruit and honey.

Bourbon Whisky

A handmade blend of blue corn, malted rye and premium American barley, aged in new American oak barrels with char 4 staves and toasted heads. Notes: blue corn, pecan, vanilla and caramel; finishes with hints of roasted coconut and a touch of white pepper. Aroma: biscuits, plum and sweet cherries.

Barbados Style Rum

Our signature rum made from 100% Barbados molasses, distilled and aged at least 2 years in former Denali Spirits whiskey casks. Tasting notes: molasses, cherry and vanilla with hints of oak and cinnamon.

Agave Spirit

Made from 100% organic blue agave nectar, distilled and aged in selected Denali Spirits whiskey barrels for at least 6 months. Aroma of vanilla, lily/geranium, hazelnut and sweet pecan nut. Mouthfeel: medium-bodied with a smooth finish and pronounced oak and white pepper.

Coffee Whiskey

ABV 29%; crafted with Kaladi Brothers Ethiopian coffee used as the water. Tasting notes: dark fruits, chocolate and vanilla.

Ready-to-Drink

Selected ready-made cocktails such as Margarita and Paloma are available – all featuring Denali Spirits agave spirit and fresh juice, as well as other variants such as Blueberry Mojito based on Hopshine.
