History
Delta Dirt Distillery is a family-owned craft distillery in the Arkansas Delta, and it distinguishes itself by growing its own crops and grain in the same area where the spirits are distilled. The Williams family has roots in Arkansas and has farmed the land in Phillips County for four generations. The history begins with 'Papa' Joe Williams, who was a sharecropper on the original 86 acres in the late 1800s. His son U.D. Williams bought the farm in 1949 with money earned from cotton and homemade moonshine. The next generation, Harvey Sr., faced a choice between expanding farmland or diversifying to survive, and he chose the latter. He redirected the farm toward vegetable production (primarily sweet potatoes) and later squash and national distribution.
In 2017, Harvey Williams Jr. together with his family began thinking about making vodka from sweet potatoes. After almost three years and many experiments, they launched Sweet Blend Vodka – made from a unique blend of distilled sweet potatoes and corn. Later, the distillery grew into something bigger: a farm-to-bottle story, where the family continues to combine farming and distilling.

Production / Manufacturing
Delta Dirt Distillery describes itself as a farm-to-bottle operation, growing its own crops and grain in the rich soils of the Arkansas Delta and distilling in the Helena district. The products express a close connection to the land through locally grown ingredients: - Sweet Blend Vodka is made from a blend of sweet potatoes and corn and is described as having floral and fruity notes with an earthy, lightly sweet finish. The vodka is gluten-free. - Arkansas Brown (Deep Roots) is made from a blend of corn, sweet potatoes, rye, and barley and is distilled to 106 proof (53% ABV). The product is described as a particularly smooth 'Arkansas Brown' with a full body. - Tall Cotton Gin is another key product line; the distillery emphasizes that they grow their grains and ingredients locally to achieve an authentic flavor profile. - The distillery notes that production begins in a historic facility in Helena, where visitors can gain insight into the process and taste the final products.
