History
Corsair Distillery was founded in 2008 in Bowling Green, KY. According to the website, Corsair was the first craft distillery in Nashville since Prohibition, in 2010. With expansions, a second Nashville location, WeHo Headquarters, was opened in January 2016, enabling the production of more whiskey at a higher production scale and leading to Marathon Village Brewstillery – a combination of a taproom, small-batch production and brewery activities. Corsair is known for innovative whiskeys, gins and unconventional spirits and has won many medals over the years (the description mentions over 800 medals at national and international competitions).
Production / Manufacturing
The spirit is at the heart of Corsair – from which grains they use to how they are treated, to their innovative production processes. They focus on grains and employ alternative, unusual and smoked grains as well as unusual botanicals as part of their approach. Marathon Village production facility includes a 1920s pot still, condenser still, fermentation vessels, mash cooker and a pilot gin still. A local maltery and smokehouse are also mentioned, underscoring a grain-to-glass focus and local collaboration.
Products / Whisky range
Corsair is described as a producer of whiskeys, gin and unconventional spirits with a focus on innovative ingredients and processing methods in small batches. No specific whiskey varieties are detailed in the text, but whiskeys are part of the range and portrayed as part of their modern approach.
