History

Casey Jones Distillery traces its origins to the legend of Casey Jones, a master stillmaker in Golden Pond, Kentucky. Casey designed and built hundreds of copper stills, whose products became known for their distinctive flavor and efficiency. He was jailed twice for still-building; his vision lives on through his grandson, Arlon "AJ" Casey Jones. The distillery is located in Western Kentucky in Land Between the Lakes and builds on a family recipe — an authentic connection between past and present.

Production and Craftsmanship

Casey Jones worked exclusively with copper stills and was known for his square pot-still (coffin still), which allowed for efficient and easily movable equipment. AJ learned everything from his grandfather, and the stills were handmade to be precise and easy to move. The current production includes a 200-gallon square pot-still ("The Grandfather") and a new 1000-gallon hybrid pot still, both designed as exact replicas of the original style. The stills and cooling systems are carefully selected; copper and wood play a major role. Bottling and aging take place at Kelvin Cooperage, where #4 char white oak is often used; AJ crafts each batch according to a generations-old recipe.

Products and Whiskeys (Selection)

• Bourbons (Kentucky Straight Bourbon): Mash Bill 1 (96% corn, 3% rye, 1% malt), Mash Bill 2 (80% corn, 16% rye, 4% malt), Mash Bill 3 (26.5% Bloody Butcher corn, 26.5% yellow dent corn, 35% wheat, 12% malted barley), Mash Bill 4 (75% corn, 10% wheat, 10% rye, 5% malted barley). Aged in Kelvin Cooperage #4 char white oak for at least 4–5 years depending on the variant. Some variants are Single Barrel or Small Batch; ABV is not consistently stated in all descriptions.
• Barrel Cuts: Single Barrel Cut and Double Barrel Cut – described as cask-strength options; ABV varies and age is noted as up to about 3–4 years in new oak with finishes in used bourbon barrels.
• Moonshines and signature Moonshine: Casey’s Cut, Apple Cut, Peach Cut, Muscadine Cut, Total Eclipse Moonshine; Total Eclipse Moonshine is 50% ABV. Cinnamon Cut Whiskey adds natural cinnamon and vanilla for warm, sweet notes.
• Rye and other variants: Kentucky Straight Rye (Mash Bill 95% rye, 5% malted barley) aged at least 3+ years; several Single Barrel and Small Batch versions.
• Special releases and gift packs: Total Eclipse Giftpack and Anniversary Blends are small-batch / limited editions.

Visits and Experiences

Casey Jones Distillery offers guided tours and tastings daily. Tastings consist of about 10 samples for around $10. Tours cost around $10 per guest (some sites mention $20). Bottle Your Own Bourbon experiences are offered, where guests fill, seal, and label a bottle directly from a barrel in the bonded room, and each bottle is unique. Barrel Pick Experience gives guests the opportunity to select three individual barrels under guidance; there are only 32 seats per session; participants must be 21+. The distillery is part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and a Founding Stop on the Stateline Whiskey Tour.

No school like old school – bourbon aged the old way. The distillery emphasizes authentic Kentucky craftsmanship and copper techniques, with a family recipe handmade by Master Distiller Arlon Casey Jones.
