Historie

Canyon Diablo Spirits was formed in 2013 by three owners with a passion for distilling and brewing and a love of good, handcrafted spirits. The name is inspired by Canyon Diablo, a real but short-lived Wild West town from 1880–1882, known as one of the "toughest Hellhole in the West." The town arose during the railroad boom around 1880–1882, and the area became known for its raw and unruly past with saloons, gamblers, outlaws, and a brutal daily life. After an extended approval process, production began in early 2015. According to the website, Canyon Diablo draws on the heritage of the first legal distillery in Arizona, and the company continues to create premium, small-batch artisanal spirits in Flagstaff, AZ.

Canyon Diablo Spirits handcrafts world-class, premium small-batch artisanal spirits in Flagstaff, high in the mountains at about 7,000 feet. They describe themselves as focused on premium craftsmanship and small-batch distilling. According to press materials, their master distiller has been central to the development of several well-received products at the former distillery, including the first mesquite-smoked whiskey, the world’s only prickly pear vodka, a new flavor of Desert Gin, and a chili vodka. They signal an intention to produce unique spirits such as prickly pear vodka, Desert Rain gin, and a spicy chili-pepper vodka, as well as other products following their distilling philosophy.
